North Carolina Department of Justice April 2005–December 2018. Assistant Attorney General and Certified instructor, providing advanced training to state and local law enforcement in employment and personnel issues, civil process, arrest, search and seizure, internal affairs investigations, and civil liability.
Scioto County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Assistant Prosecutor February 1991–January 2005. Prosecuted misdemeanors and felonies, including capital murder trials. The founding legal counsel of the Southern Ohio Law Enforcement Drug Task Force, a multi-jurisdictional task force investigating and prosecuting felony drug cases. Has prosecuted 14 different individuals for State RICO violations and was featured on ABC's 20/20 show for prosecuting a local physician under State RICO for selling Oxycontin.
Cross Management Consulting Services. Inc. 1983–January 2005. Co-founder and General Counsel for this management consulting company, advising and representing county and city governments, elected officials, and school boards, including contract negotiations, fact-finding, arbitration, policy drafting, training, and seminar presentations. Representation also includes appearing before the Industrial Commission on Workers' Compensation cases, Ohio Bureau of Employment Services on unemployment cases, Ohio Bureau of Employment Services on unemployment cases, State Employment Relations Board, Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the State Personnel Board of Review.
