About This Course
In March 2023, Governor DeSantis signed House Bill 837 (“HB 837”) into law, implementing substantial changes to Florida’s tort law, including personal injury litigation. HB 837 implemented many changes that affect how personal injury lawsuits are litigated, including substantively and procedurally. The changes created by HB 837 have also resulted in increased litigation surrounding how HB 837 is to be applied. This course will cover what changes were enacted by HB 837, the effects of such changes, and the future of personal injury litigation in Florida. This program will also cover recent case law interpreting parts of HB 837.
Attendees will learn about changes to Florida tort law by HB 837, the effects of such changes, and the future of personal injury litigation in Florida. This program will be beneficial to any attorney who oversees the handling of personal injury claims, including in-house attorneys who monitor outside counsel or attorneys hired to serve as personal counsel to an insured or self-insured person/entity defending against a personal injury claim as this course covers how personal injury litigation is handled in Florida.
This course serves as a refresher or introduction for attorneys who handle personal injury claims, including personal injury attorneys who either prosecute or defend against personal injury claims in Florida.
