The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has recently initiated an interim NIL policy that allows college athletes to personally benefit from the commercial use of their names, images, or likenesses. This recent decision has affected clients and the interplay between publicity and trademark law. By taking this course, participants will learn about this and other hot topics and recent decisions in the right of publicity and trademark law. The relationship between the two areas of law will also be stressed, and attendees will learn strategies to navigate them best.

Attorneys who attend this program will learn the distinctions between trademark and right of publicity law in the United States, how they interact with one another, and issue-spotting tips. They will also learn how to best assist clients in these areas, especially those whose brands are intertwined with their name, image, and likeness.

This course is ideal for attorneys of all levels who routinely work in intellectual property, advertising, and/or entertainment law.
