International Business and Cross-Border Transactions

With the rise in the international movement of goods and services in recent decades, attorneys from various practice areas and specialties are increasingly encountering legal issues related to cross-border transactions and international sales of goods and services. Therefore, attorneys across all sectors will benefit in developing a general understanding and recognition of the main issues when providing counsel to clients or drafting/reviewing contracts involving international business transactions.

Attorneys will learn about the legal framework and regulatory regimes involving cross-border transactions. This course will give an in-depth look at many major issues and key points of interest involving them, such as the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) versus the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The course will also discuss import and export procedures, provision, dispute resolution, and more. Whether it is a one-off transaction or an ongoing business relationship, participants will become able to identify the legal principles applicable to all transactions and discern–and solve–specific issues regarding international transactions.
