Lawyers and Allyship: Supporting Underrepresented Communities
About This Course
In recent years, there has been an increased focus on creating more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplaces, including in the legal industry. As a legal professional, it is important to not only recognize the unique challenges faced by lawyers and clients of color, but to also take action and become an effective ally. This course will provide an overview of allyship and specific strategies for supporting and advocating for underrepresented communities in the law firm setting.
This course is designed for legal professionals at all levels who are interested in becoming effective allies for underrepresented communities in the law firm setting. This includes lawyers, paralegals, legal assistants, and support staff.
Learning Objectives:
- Define allyship and its importance in the legal industry
- Understand the challenges faced by lawyers and clients of color in the legal industry
- Identify specific actions that can be taken to support and advocate for communities that are underrepresented in the legal industry
- Develop a personal action plan for becoming an ally in the legal industry
