About The Lecturer
Laura Alfano graduated from the Birmingham School of Law in 1990 and holds a Master of Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has nearly 35 years’ experience practicing law and has been in education for almost 50 years.
Ms. Alfano taught in public schools for fifteen years before attending law school. After practicing law for about five years, she began teaching paralegal students at a career college in the evenings as an adjunct instructor. During her education career, Laura Alfano has won several national awards for both in-person and online teaching. She has held various positions at the college level, including providing ongoing training for approximately 300 instructors, serving as a regional director, school dean, and vice-president of curriculum. She has presented at the regional and national level since 2012.
For many years, her practice areas included a large domestic, criminal, and bankruptcy trial practice, as well as property and probate law. Laura has functioned as a special master in divorce court, hearing preliminary motions and providing reports and guidance to judges. She now considers herself a “semi-retired, country lawyer,” focusing on property, bankruptcy, and probate law in the small town of Warrior, AL.
