About The Lecturer
Dr. Kathleen Rigaut received a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Rutgers University-UMDNJ in 1992. She was admitted to practice before the USPTO in 1998 and received a J.D. degree from Rutgers University in Camden in 1999 and is bar qualified in PA and NJ. Dr. Rigaut has extensive laboratory experience in the fields of virology, immunology, and molecular biology. As a Staff Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Rigaut was involved in the development of novel immunotoxins targeting the T Cell Receptor. Dr. Rigaut has co-authored a chapter on the clinical use of monoclonal antibodies for Biopharmaceutical Drug Design and Development published by Humana Press in 1999. Other chapters authored or co-authored by Dr. Rigaut on patent practice and confidentiality agreements are published in Research administration and management. Kulakowski, E. C., & Chronister, L. U. eds. (2006). Dr. Rigaut has been practicing in the field of Intellectual Property law for over 27 years.
Dr. Rigaut is a partner at Howson & Howson, LLP and has experience in the preparation of freedom to operate opinions, analysis of, and resolution of inventorship disputes, patentability opinions, global patent docket management, patent prosecution, including preparation and filing of patent applications around the globe, amendments and responses to PTO Official Actions on a variety of subjects including cancer genes, genetic markers for disease, transgenic plants, RNA viruses, monoclonal antibodies, antisense technologies, and compositions involved in anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer responses. She also assists clients with licensing and infringement matters.
