Companies and individuals go to great lengths to defend and enforce their intellectual property (IP) rights. In order to sell, license, or enter into any commercial legal arrangements based on IP, values need to be assigned to IP assets. IP valuation is beneficial in the enforcement of IP rights, for internal management of IP assets, and for various financial processes.
This program will explore what constitutes IP valuation and guide attorneys through a variety of reasons why it is critical for businesses to best identify intangible assets via a seasoned valuation expert. Discussions will also include the importance of IP audits and how to best prepare for IP valuation, specific methods (cost, market, income, licensing and royalty rates, and DCF to properly value IP, and key tips and best practices.
This program is directed to IP attorneys, with an intermediate background in IP valuation, or any attorney interested in learning about this practice area.
