About This Course
Attorneys from all levels of practice experience are encouraged to attend this course and learn about the critical role that paralegals can play in a law firm, government office, or other legal setting. Investigate how to maximize the talents of your paralegal to increase productivity. Discover and understand the role of paralegals, permissible work assignments and tasks that attorneys can ethically delegate billable and non-billable tasks that a paralegal can perform while under the supervision of a lawyer, and the ethical aspects to consider. Learn simple and practical ways to ensure your paralegal does not engage in the Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL).
Learning Objectives:
- Understand what a paralegal does and what is permissible
- Classify the billable tasks that can be legally delegated to a paralegal
- Outline non-billable tasks that can be legally delegated to a paralegal

Brenda Seibert is an Assistant Professor in the Business and Innovation Department and Learning Resources Department. In 2020, she was awarded the Bucks County Community College “Above and Beyond Award.” She also serves as Program Director of the Bucks County Community College Paralegal Program and Paralegal Program Coordinator. Her course concentration includes Torts, Civil Litigation, Business Law, and Insurance and Risk Management. As an attorney, she represented major department stores, national drugstore chains, and manufacturers of large-scale construction equipment.
