Belonging is often the missing piece in many diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives. Yet, it is essential for creating fair and equitable legal workplaces that foster engagement, performance, well-being, and retention. In this course, attorneys will learn how to cultivate a culture of belonging, especially in the context of the global coronavirus pandemic and the historical and contemporary exclusion of marginalized populations. Attorneys will also learn why belonging may be a more effective goal than inclusion and what strategies and practices attorneys can use to promote belonging amongst colleagues and clients within the legal profession.
