Icon About This Course

Lawyers, often more than other professionals, are responsible for their own trustworthiness, honesty, and understanding of their fiduciary responsibilities. This course dives into several case studies exemplifying situations in which integrity is on the line.

The program will discuss several ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, from misconduct to professional independence. Attorneys attending this course can expect to leave with a greater awareness of the ethical standards and rules for lawyering and a set of real-world examples to solidify their understanding.

Attorneys from all levels are encouraged to attend this course on ethical compliance.

Learning Objectives:

  • Delineate between illegal offenses and illegal offenses involving “moral turpitude,” which demonstrates a lack of fitness to practice law
  • Recognize the importance of confidentiality to clients
  • Identify ways to prevent conflicts of interest and how to address them if they emerge
  • Explain how an attorney can violate the Model Rules by committing a criminal act unrelated to the legal profession
