This introductory course is designed to help new attorneys, or attorneys who have recently entered the corporate practice, establish a sound foundation in corporate law.

The program will discuss why attorneys need to thoroughly understand the concept of incorporation and who their clients are in order to avoid legal malpractice. In addition, engagement letters will be reviewed with a focus on initiating who an attorney will represent and the scope of the work and fees involved. Entity selection, tax ID numbers, operating agreements, and best practices to keep in mind when proceeding when buying a new business will also be discussed.
