About The Lecturer
Attorney Dawn Owens Ross is a registered patent attorney who helps small businesses and entrepreneurs secure and protect their intellectual property rights in the electrical and mechanical arts, as well as protect their brands and copyrights. Dawn likes to gain a deep understanding of her client’s inventions and overall brand, allowing her to develop and execute a comprehensive intellectual property protection strategy. As a part of this comprehensive intellectual property protection strategy, Dawn regularly advises novelty/patentability, ideation and patent portfolio management, technological white-space assessments, patent and trademark prosecution, and copyright protection. Having an in-depth understanding of both intellectual property and business, Dawn’s practice combines strategic vision, resilience, and candidness to deliver crucial legal advice and counsel to business owners, allowing them to focus confidently on what matters most: their business.
Prior to starting Ross & Owens Ross Law with her husband Attorney Jonathan Ross, Dawn practiced law for boutique Intellectual Property firms in Atlanta Georgia and Jacksonville Florida focusing on intellectual property and transactional business matters. She also brings her experience as a Corporate Patent Research & Analytics Trainer, where she guided innovators and legal professionals through the innovation lifecycle, as well as her corporate experience serving the biopharmaceutical industry. Dawn obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in communication from the University of North Florida. She graduated from law school with certificates in Advanced Legal Research, Writing, and Drafting and International and Comparative Law. After law school, Dawn pursued her childhood goals and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Yellow belt in Lean Six Sigma.
Outside of the office, Dawn enjoys spending time with her family, discovering new restaurants, networking, and participating in K-12 STEM outreach and education.
