Hawaii CLE Requirements

1 hour of Ethics/Professional Responsibility every three years (to be counted towards the annual continuing legal education requirement.)

TRTCLE submits monthly attendance reports. However, Active Attorney requirements are self-reported and members should maintain records of approved CLE for three reporting periods. Certificates need not be submitted to the Bar unless otherwise requested for a random, compliance or status change audit. Attorneys may carryover 3 credits to the next reporting period. Ethics cannot be carried over.

The CLE requirement is waived for the calendar year that a member is admitted to the Bar. However, pursuant to RSCH Rule 1.14, this waiver does not modify the requirement that the attorney must complete the Hawaii Professionalism Course mandated by the Hawaii Supreme Court no later than December 31st of the following year of election of active status.

As an added bonus, upon completion of the Hawaii Professionalism Course attorneys will earn 4.5 CLE credits, 3 of which may be carried over into the next year to be used towards the annual requirement.
