Colorado CLE Requirements

45 credit hours every three years

All credits may be completed online

38 hours General
7 hours Professional Responsibility
*At least 5 hours in Legal Ethics or Legal Professionalism
*At least 2 hours in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI)

BEGINNING January 1, 2023: the seven hours devoted to professional responsibility must include the following:

At least two credit hours in the area of equity, diversity, and inclusivity, and at least five credit hours in the areas of legal ethics or legal professionalism. All actively licensed attorneys who are required to comply with Colorado’s CLE requirements—in all compliance periods—must comply with this requirement.

Colorado is a self-reporting jurisdiction. Attorneys need to submit their credits through an online affidavit at the Colorado CLE Track website, or by mailing the affidavit in to the Colorado Supreme Court Board of Continuing Legal and Judicial Education.

Colorado does not permit carry over credits.

The initial compliance period for newly admitted attorneys includes the remainder of the year in which they are admitted plus the three subsequent calendar years.
